A few days ago I wrote about how Cupcake Bandit Madeline has been loving the Tag Kindergarten. In addition to that I also received the Interactive Human Body Discovery Pack. For about two years I have been grilling Madeline on different parts of the body, along with her ABC's, numbers, and colors. Madeline has a serious love for knowing what things are and what their parts are called.
It all started with the the body. She thought it was so funny that not only was she Madeline but she had things called arms, legs, and even a belly button! If you think about it..it is a strange concept. A 5 year old really makes you stop and think. Although she doesn't understand the concept of "why" just yet, I am trying to help her understand. She understand that her belly hurts but doesn't understand why. The Human Body Discovery Pack from LeapFrog is teaching her the answer to the question "why?" even though she never asked it..or even knew to ask it.
Autism is very tricky. Things we take for granted like a 5 year old asking why isn't there. The Human Body Discovery Pack is a big folding board book fill with information about the different systems of the body like the nervous and digestive systems. It also encourages kids to eat healthy with a neat little game on the back. The pack comes with a growth chart and interactive stickers. The Tag will not only tell her words to help her read but also to understand her body. I've her feel her belly and look at the veins underneath her skin. In fact she knows that she has skin now lol. The voices are extremely friendly and quite a bit silly. She especially loves the sound of the nervous system. It sounds like electricity! I cannot say enough about Tag. It takes a special toy to make Madeline want to sit for half hour interacting and enjoying it. It truly makes science fun!
