Tea. It reminds me to slow down and enjoy the things I would miss if I didn't. Whether it's hot or cold, tea is not meant to be chugged. It's meant to be sipped and savored. Since the beginning, tea has meant to be a ritual of socialization. It's meant to be shared. To me nothing is better after a long hot day than a glass of ice cold sweet tea. Mornings are made better by a cup of Earl Grey with milk and sugar. For my husband he prefers his unsweetened with lemon or green tea with raspberry. For as many types of people there are there is a tea.
Since we are now almost on the cusp of winter here in Western, New York I like to "pretend" I'm somewhere else. Winter time gets me all creative. Christmas and Thanksgiving are coming up. This means family gatherings. What better excuse to break out some tea for your family time? This Thanksgiving I want give my get together a Caribbean theme. I'm going to make jerk turkey (like jerk chicken), jalapeno sausage stuffing, yams....ect. Coming up with a mocktail for appetizers was definitely on my to-do list. After all..what's coconut shrimp without a drink?
In my family we don't really drink. It's just not our lifestyle. But still. Cocktails are fun dang it! Tea and mocktails just go hand in hand. Both are about socializing. When I think tropical I think pineapple, mangoes, oranges, papaya. When perusing Walmart for Lipton Honey and Tea Pitcher Packets I found the flavor I thought that would go perfect with my Thanksgiving theme.
Green Tea Pineapple Mango! It's sweetened with just a bit of honey to make it oh so smooth and sweet. The green tea gives a nice even floral tone that keeps things light and refreshing and the mango makes you feel like you should be wiggling your deep in warm sand. My mocktail brings sunshine to the darkest of winter days. The great thing about it is you can make this for just yourself or a whole pitcher of it for friends and family!
